It’s one of the most eagerly awaited films of the decade. So there was delight from fans as Disney released the highly anticipated official trailer for the live-action fairy tale Beauty and the Beast on Monday.
It gives the first proper look at Emma Watson, 26, in the role of Belle. The Bill Condon directed movie is a remake of the 1991 animated musical – recreated with live action.
The first teaser broke all viewing records on the day it was released – even surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens – as 91 million people watched it in May.
The Beast – played by Downtown Abbey’s Dan Stevens, 34 – gives Belle the chance to take her father’s place in the castle, which she accepts.
The iconic famous title track is heard – but as well as the original songs from the animated movie, there are three new tracks.
There’s a magical glimpse of the classic ballroom scene with Watson being seen in the yellow dress.
